Amp Up Your Look

5
Thursday through Saturday, it might be easy to reach into your closet, select what you are most comfortable donning, and call it a day. I invite you to step out of your comfort zone and choose something you typically wouldn’t.Although spring has indeed sprung, we are still experiencing those 45 degree weather days in Lubbock. That being said, it is not time to put your leather and booties away quite yet.

The color palette for cold weather makes it easy to achieve the tough, cool girl look in a flash. Enjoy it while you can because accomplishing that look in florals and pastels can get a little more challenging. I’m going to show you how to amp up your look and acquire that magazine-worthy style we all dream of attaining.

First off, I’d like to express my craze for embellished t-shirts with you for a moment. While being casual in texture and fit, the embellishments make it more polished and versatile for any occasion.  Even on days when you are settling for laidback comfort, an embellished t-shirt can fool your peers into thinking you tried a little bit harder than you actually did. Trust me, I wear this shirt often and it never ceases to earn a compliment.

Next, tuck your embellished t-shirt into a patterned skirt. Note: length is key here. Anything too short might surpass stylish and send the wrong idea. Besides, midi skirts are here now and sticking around through the hotter months. Get a kick-start and don this style before your companions jump on the midi bandwagon!

The added plus of rocking a t-shirt like this one is it excuses you from having to pile on the jewelry. With jewels and sequins on your top, too much jewelry tends to stray on the fussy side. Just a pair of statement earrings will do just fine. More specifically, these Kate Spade statement earrings serve as the right amount of shine. When donning a shirt with sheen, it can get a little scary to wear such a statement on your ears. Remember that most of the attention is going to be on your crazy-awesome outfit and you must bring the eyes back to your face. These baubles will do just that.

Now the time has come to paint your face. This Nars lipstick in Schiap will literally highlight your pout to perfection. This neon lipstick is worn by every blogger I follow and it never fails to be the cherry on top of a perfectly-styled outfit. This punched-up lipstick will polish off your look and will make your pout an absolute knockout.  With such a lip, you don’t need much on your eyes. Swap your black liner for a more subdued navy pencil.

When it comes to garnishing your cool girl vibe, look no further than blacked out accessorizes. This masculine Michael Kors timepiece effortlessly adds an element of toughness and is chunky enough to be all your wrist needs. The cutouts on these Jeffrey Campbell booties allow your pedicure to shine and show just enough skin to earn a spot as your knockout, going-out shoes. Grab for your black crossbody and you have officially styled your ensemble to a T. It may be spring, but black accessories are forever chic.

Next time you get ready to hit the Lubbock hot spots, get a little creative and out of your comfort zone. Whether that means wearing a neon lip or actually putting on pants, put a bit more effort into your night looks. Besides, your leggings and oversized tees are begging for a break.

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.
