I Am...

Make me like You, Lord. Make me humble, kind, understanding, generous, and loving.

I Am...
Morgan Bandy

I Am Eve

God has given me life, given me everything I need to be sustainable, but I fall. He gives me everything I could ever want or need, and yet I want the one fruit he says I can't have. I allow myself to be deceived by someone or something who doesn't even compare to God. I eat the fruit, and I fall. I fail him, but He will redeem me.

I Am Cain

I am filled with jealousy and rage. I envy those who have what I do not. I envy those who are more well liked. I think that God loves and favors someone over me.. He doesn't. I kill my brother. I don't kill him with a rock. I kill him with my thoughts and with my words. My lack of love for them is a murder weapon.

I Am Moses

I killed a man, I sinned, I ran. God still redeems me. God calls me to do His work, to save His people, to lead them to Him. I make excuses on why I am not qualified, why I am not good enough, God calls me, with the call He will equip me, I only need to trust Him.

I Am Aaron

God commands me to have no other idols, to follow His laws. I grow impatient and I make for myself my own god. I make my job, family, social media, and friends my god. I put them before Him. Still, I am loved by You.

I Am the Lame Man

I sinned, I was lost, but Lord, you healed me. You make me new. I am saved, healed, and redeemed by Your love, word, and sacrifice.

I Am Peter

I follow You and love You. You have given me every reason to believe that You are the Son of God. You restored and renewed me. You show Your love and favor for me. To You, I proclaim that You are Lord, that You are my savior, but I have denied You to others. Yet, Your grace abounds and You love me.

I Am Barabbas

I am a criminal. I have killed and broken many other laws. I stood next to a righteous man and still I was set free. It should have been me on that cross. I should have been deemed a criminal. I should have died and suffered for what I've done. The people should have set You free and taken me. You took my place, when You had no sins of Your own.

Make me like You, Lord. Make me humble, kind, understanding, generous, and loving. Help me love those who have done me wrong. Help me to give to those who are in need and help them with all that I can. Make me patient with those around me and with myself. Help me make Your word and love known to others.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
