America, Please Wake Up
www.theimaginativeconservative.org

I know you've seen a million and one articles over the topic of America in general lately. I'm sorry to be another but I can tell you this one is different. This isn't what I feel is the right or the wrong side. This is my chance to speak out about our actions as a people of this country. I am so heartbroken and in awe of some of the things that I have heard.

As individuals we are entitled to our own opinion. What we believe in, is up to us, and nobody else. We have the freedom to have our own views and ideas. YOU as an individual do not have the right to attempt to take that away from someone. How dare you think you are entitled to that? I understand that you are so firm and strong in what you believe in but that does not give you the right to tear down somebody else.

I get that we are going to have different views on the events taking place but before you begin discussing the extreme division this country has seen in the last few days and weeks, look at how your words and actions are affecting and influencing that. It is one thing to believe in something and to voice your opinion, but to tear someone else down because there opinion differs is insanity. To belittle, degrade, hurt, disown and/or threaten someone because of that? How can you say that your "side" is better when you are stooping to the lowest of the low? I've seen comments such as "Educate yourself"...just because someone has a different belief than you, doesn't make them stupid. And please get it out of your head that it makes the, wrong. It doesn't.

I'm not posting my opinions because honestly I don't want to get into the debate with someone. If it were a debate about what is actually going on that would be one thing but lately all I have heard or seen are debates that turn into who can hurt or destroy the other the quickest and who can cut the deepest. I don't post to social media outlets because I've seen the way others have been attacked. People are verbally attacking people for doing the same thing that they are doing, voicing an opinion.

Now more than ever we need to act like we are living in the United States of America. Let me rewind for a second, the UNITED States of America. I can't speak for first hand but I can't imagine being a solider in our military and knowing that the freedom you are fighting for is being taken away by the people you are fighting for. By no means am I saying to not discuss this topic but quit acting like high schoolers that use ammunition that isn't relevant.

To those of you in your 20's and 30's please remember that this is your only opportunity to create a world for your future family. This is the time that what you do is the most influential in shaping the world that they will one day live in. Please stop driving a wedge deeper into the divide in our country but rather help patch up those areas.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
