In that private moment we all decided our fate.
Yet, the backlash of the gravity of their choices shook the American people.
As if our decisions in themselves were a game of chicken being played amongst children with no real bearing on our reality.
Now we fear for the future of our nation in these hours, as we watch powerless, and wonder what could have been.
In four score I hope to recognized this home and it's people, but I fear we are too lost in false hope and desperation to recognize ourselves.
In these dark times we have to remember our past so as to push towards the future.
What is love without knowledge of pain? What is courage without ever knowing fear?
What is gain without ever feeling loss? And what's brilliance without ever knowing ignorance?
I may not know our future as a nation, but I believe in us as a people.
Only time may tell and God bring mercy to our children.
