To those who need this,
We don’t need hatred, spiteful, or rude comments about how America is falling apart at its seams, political election aside. As Americans, we’re all sensing it, in some way, shape, or form—it’s an unsettling, uneasy feeling coupled with overwhelming dread. Or, for others it’s a sense that America is finally going “back on track” to its glory days.
Whatever the feeling may be, we must now recover.
We must lick our wounds, victorious or defeated, and we must learn to coexist again. We must put aside the words, the anger, the poison of this election, and we must move forward. Yes, we are pained from words our loved ones and close friends spewed, or shocked at the skeletons in the closets of those we trusted wholeheartedly, yet we must continue to love them—without love, we have only hate. Now, this doesn’t mean to allow them back with open arms, but love them as you see fit, whether that’s with no change or a change in affection.
As a nation, we’ve made our bed, and we must lie in it, even if it wasn’t truly intended. We’ve overcome and accomplished great things in our history, from creation to any point. We’ve overcome mistakes, challenges, and whatever was thrown at us with gusto—I’m fairly certain we will power through this, and let whatever happen, happen.
As individuals, we are either elated or extremely paranoid, upset, or anxious. Just as a whole, we must all lick our wounds and smile at those we once trusted, or wonder where do we go from here? I’m unqualified to answer such a question, nor do I have a direct answer, but there’s one thing I do know for certain, from the words of a rather old soul of a Youtuber:
“No matter who you are; no matter your race, religion, or gender you have the unalienable right to live your life in peace and happiness.”—Markiplier
With that said, and a fire burning in our very souls to do right, regardless of what’s to come, we must do what we can to recover and strive forward wherever this new presidency takes us.
There is no “good” or “bad”, nor “right” and “evil”, there are only humans.
Being human, much to our chagrin, allows us to make mistakes, yet we have the resilience to grow from them, to try and prevent the past from happening again.
With a deep breath, liked minded individuals who share similar ideals, radical or mild, we will all come together and survive as a nation.
