AMERICA

The Great U.S of A

AMERICA

The other day I overheard a conversation about America and how America was going down the toilet. One of the people in the discussion mentioned the iconic American Dream. One of the other people involved in the conversation had no idea what that phrase even meant. I then heard several of the people try to define the phrase. The definition for The American Dream is “the ideal that every US citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative.” However over hearing this conversation made me realize that each individual has their own interpretation of what this phrase stands for. This got me thinking how I would interpret it. This is what I came up with. The American Dream to me is living life to the fullest, my definition of prosperity. The American dream is taking something minute and making it into an extraordinary opportunity or an aspiring event. Not having anything but making it something. It isn’t about just one person, it is a community, striving for success and achieving the highest goal they set for themselves. Being happy with who they have become. To achieve the American dream, I believe, one must work to their fullest ability. Hard work and determination equal success. I want to use my passion for others and my knowledge of medicine to achieve the best I can be. My life goal I have set is to make an impact in the world of sports. I want to care for athletes and make sure they can achieve their dream of playing their sport. I want to become the best Athletic Trainer there is. I want to become part of a community that is extraordinary, and be inspiring to others who think that they cannot achieve the American dream. As of right now, I can start my strive to my American dream by working hard in my education. Education is the basis of all skills and talents. One must know what to do in order to do. I have embodied the American dream in education by devoting all my time and energy into learning. I learn and innovate as much as I can. This helps me gain the skills and knowledge I need later, to be able to work with others and work on important tasks. I will use these skills and knowledge to get through college and get certified. My American dream is being apart of community, everyone playing their part. I want to be in that community, doing my part. As a community I feel as though each individual is responsible for doing their fair share. The American Dream to me is this community coming together and succeeding, while each individual sets their own goals for themselves so they can become the best individual they can be. Each individual should have a life goal, and be supported by their community to achieve it. No matter who is president, America should not forget why it became so great in the first place. Not because of leaders, but because of a community that came together and worked their butts off the make something of themselves as a country. Its named the UNITED states of America. That means the community is UNITED. United and working hard and being successful. And this is what America should still do! Go America!

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
