Diary Of A Go-getter

Ambition and determination

Diary Of A Go-getter
The Staffing Stream

Since the first paycheck that I received when I was 12 years old I realized I was very ambitious. I grew up seeing my mom struggle as a single parent and I was not OK with that. She worked three jobs just to get by and to have food on the table.

My father walked out when I was two years old and growing up without him was rough. Sometimes people take the little things for granted but I never held a grudge. I just made a promise to myself and my mom that I would never rely on anyone and that I would be as independent as she was.

It was unfortunate to not have the extra help but I ham fortunate to know the hard work that it takes to live a better life. Starting from the bottom I am now working on my Bachelors in Fashion Merchandising which has always been my dream. I go to school full time but I also work full time.

While working full-time and going to school full time I have managed to excel at my job and although it is not my dream job it is something that I extremely proud of. I have managed to get two promotions and I am now the Account Manager to Corporate Sales at an E-Commerce Pharmaceutical company.

It is not always easy to wake up early in the morning to go to work and live paycheck to paycheck. However, I have always worked hard for what I want and need. The key to staying focused is to set short-term goals as well as long-term. People will always have something negative to say and weeding out those naysayers will be your blessing in disguise.

One day I hope to be able to travel the world and be as independent as my mom has taught me and I hope to be a role model for those kids that according to statistics don't have a chance at a better life.

With ambition and determination anything is possible and it is OK to dream big because they can all be reached with the right will and power.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
