Student entrepreneurs are steadily on the rise.

From wardrobe needs to make up needs, millennials are taking over the beauty industry. Senior public relations student Amber Tookes happens to be one student entrepreneur on the rise.

Tookes’ makeup brand, AmberNhi, is all about creating beauty inside and out. AmberNhi is still relatively new but she doesn't let that stop her from going after her vision for her brand.

Tookes explains that she began her business venture in 2014 but started to take it seriously in 2015-16. Starting out just doing her own makeup, she began to branch out and service clients as well in 2014.

“I started doing makeup because I was told by a former friend that I would never be as good of a makeup artist as her. The quickest way to get me to do something is to tell me that I can't. So, I would practice on myself and my makeup would turn out more appealing and eventually others began to let me apply their make up for them.”

Tookes explains that the process isn't as sweet as it looks.

“When you start to receive more clientele, don't get big headed or forget where you started. As quickly as you get them, you’ll lose them even quicker. Patience is key.”

When asked what advice if any, would should give to those who wish to start their own business, Tookes had this to say.

“Advice I would give to others on starting their own business is to be humble, be patient, and continue to work hard and learn your craft. Things will happen in God’s timing.”

Inspiring and ehancing beauty inside and out, AmberNhi is at your service.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
