So, most baseball fans know that Clayton Kershaw is having an amazing season, but most people know how remarkable the season is. He truly is having a historical season. His WHIP for the season is 0.67, and for those who don't know what WHIP is, it is walks + hits/innings pitched. For every one walk that Kershaw allows, he strikes out about 20 batters. Comparing his stats to rest of the major league, Kershaw is tied for second in wins, leads the majors in ERA, strike outs, and WHIP.
This season is a historical one for Kershaw. With his .055 walks per nine innings, if the season ended today, that would put him at number 17 all time for that stat. If Kershaw keeps up the pace, he will be the second player since 1900 to reach the top 20, the other person being Carlos Silva. In 2005 Silva walked nine batters in 27 games.
