Now it's been a little under a year since the iPhone X was released and I just got one a week ago. I know I'm a little behind the big switch to the newest iPhone, but I just have to say how much I love this phone. Like all things, there are the good and the bad, but even the few things that can be a little annoying, still won't make me dislike this phone.
Now I had heard a lot of mixed ideas from others about whether or not they liked having the X, but I still went for it. Although I did have some skepticism towards the phone, once I got it and started to use it that all went away. First off, I just have to talk about how pretty and sleek this phone is. With the bigger screen and the glass back, this is just a really sleek, clean phone. The screen on this phone is absolutely incredible. Especially if you like watching videos or playing games on your phone, the X's screen is so great for this, especially with it taking up the whole phone.
For all my photographers out there, this phone's camera is a MUST. The quality of photos is outstanding, this by far has to be the best iPhone camera yet. In addition to the camera quality itself, the portrait mode is amazing. Now I know the portrait mode has been out for a while, but portrait mode mixed with the camera system of the X is just an outstanding combo.
Just some other fun aspects of the iPhone X include the Animoji, Face ID, and the controls. Starting with the Animoji, it is so much fun to use. It works with the Face ID set up and allows you to become some of the popular animal emojis, including the dog, cat, fox, panda, chicken, and unicorn. A great aspect of this is the fact that the Animoji's can be sent to anyone! So it isn't just an X to X thing, it can be sent to anyone because it sends it as a video.
Moving on to the Face ID, it actually works pretty well. So the fingerprint scanner is gone because there is no home button and it has been replaced with Face ID. Like the fingerprint, you have to set it up and scan your face to help you unlock your phone. I haven't found it to be that troublesome. The only thing I have noticed is that you have to be holding it in front of your face. For example, if you're laying on your side and want to unlock your phone it won't do it if it can't see your whole face.
Lastly, the controls are something that is the biggest learning curve. With the absence of the home button, you have to swipe up to the middle of the screen and let go for all your open apps to appear and then hold them down to be able to access the option to close. It just takes a little work to get it right, but after a having it for a bit, it should be okay. Another control thing is the fact that if you want to see all your notifications you can swipe down from the top like normal, but you just have to swipe down from the middle or the left corner. The top right corner allows you to bring down the actual control center of the phone that used to be able to be accessed by swiping up.
Even with all these changes, whether they be good or bad, I personally find the iPhone X really enjoyable to use. I would highly recommend this phone. I think out of all the iPhones I've had, I would have to say that the iPhone X is my favorite iPhone.
