Thank You, Mom

Because You Don't Hear It Enough

Thank You, Mom
Andrea Ferreira

I have a planner. I schedule my own appointments, and keep track of all my life events. But, at the end of the day, my mom is my source for all the information I need. Of course it would have been cliche and unoriginal to post this for Mother's Day. Mom, you deserve a thank you, every day.

For being my source of information

I know I frequent interrupting you at work wondering if you have seen my other shoe or the textbook I didn't use all year and need to return. I know if i'm wondering where something was put and I need it quickly, you're the one person who could tell me exactly where it is. Every time I have a question, regarding anything, you have never failed to at least give me some guidance and assistance. I make my own doctors appointments, dentist appointments, and meetings on campus, but you are always my second reminder.

For giving your opinion

I know I shop a lot, I am absolutely positive I get that from you. You never fail to tell me if the jeans I'm trying on look awkward, if the dress isn't the best looking, or if the shirt is the absolute wrong color. That being said, you also never fail to compliment me when you like whatever it is. I know that my friends could give me similar opinions, but my generation grew up with different standards than yours. So that dress that I think is totally perfect, could be totally not alright for the occasion. Sometimes, your opinion is the perfect one.

For doing the usual mom things

You cook, you clean and you do laundry. You don't yell when I truly screw something up, or when i'm being absolutely stubborn. I don't think there's much more to add to this, because you really do it all.

For being my best friend

I know in recent years, I have gotten used to getting food or getting my nails done alone. I absolutely appreciate the weekends that we get the chance to go get pedicures together. Whether we talk about a ton of different things, or barely anything, it's really nice to just sit there with my mom. I love getting the chance to go to the mall with you, and not just because you usually buy me things. I genuinely appreciate spending time with you.

Just Thanks

I know you don't hear it often. Just know I absolutely appreciate you, and absolutely love you.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter
morethanwheels

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
