"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes." Romans 1:16
All right, let's go ahead and get right to it. In today's day and time, being a Christian usually isn't the 'thing' to do. We may not be considered 'cool' if we live out our Christianity and show it. Trust me. I know. But why is this? What makes being a Christian uncool? Oh yeah, that's right, absolutely nothing. We're the ones doing the thing to do. Saving people from spending eternity without God sounds pretty cool to me. I don't know about you guys, but I'm not ashamed to spread the gospel and stand up for what God commands us to do. It really is hard to do sometimes (once again, trust me, I know), but we are God's chosen people. It's in our job description to use our gifts to spread the word. No matter what the circumstance may be. 1 Peter says it best, "God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another." God has given you a gift. Show it off. Tell people how Jesus changed your life. Make the most out of it. It's what God wants you to do.
I know a lot of great people that keep their head hung low when any controversial issue is brought up. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but why are we as Christians known for that? Isn't it time we take our stand? We have the most powerful tool possible on our side: the big guy upstairs. We all know the story of David and Goliath. I like to think of David as a guy like myself. A 150 pound, 6 foot, skinny guy. Who'd he go up against? Goliath. No big deal or anything, but he's one of the biggest people to ever live. So, to put it into perspective, it'd be like me fighting Shaq. Make that two Shaqs. And I can go ahead and tell you, I would most likely die. I would probably just look at the two Shaqs and drop dead. But David didn't. Why? God was on his side.
While God may not help me kill Shaq 2.0 in today's time, He's still with all of us. Just like when He was there when David went up against Goliath. This story should give us courage and strength! We have GOD on OUR side! We don't need to be ashamed of that. David's life was on the line and he wasn't ashamed. He was being made fun of by tons and tons of people. But he didn't care. God was with him. What gives us the right to be ashamed? David had everything to lose. We have nothing to lose. What's stopping us?
It's time we as a nation stand up for God. Use your God-given gifts to spread the gospel. I also want us to pray for courage. Courage to be able to take our stand and show people what God can do. God is on our side. If God is for us who can be against us? Share this to let others know that you're not ashamed. It's time we make a difference.
