7 Reasons Why I'm Bad Luck

In This Article:

My bad luck has been on the warpath as of late. The saying that bad things happen in 3's is so NOT relevant here.

1. I almost broke my elbow.

Just a little over a week ago I slipped down the stairs and used my elbow to brace myself during the fall. Bad idea! The bone got severely bruised, and I was confined to a sling for a week.

2. I got a flat tire.

I went out for a much-needed girls night out that ended with me having a flat tire. Due to my unfamiliarity with the road and it being late I hit the ditch and popped a tire. The night was worth it though!

3. I got a ticket!

Just a couple of weeks ago I was bragging that I never got a ticket. I should have knocked on wood. My wallet went missing, so therefore I didn't have my license with me. This happened on the same night I popped the tire. An officer drove by and waited with me for a tow truck. When I couldn't produce a license, I got a ticket for $158!

4. My car got towed.

Even though the girls night portion of evening cost me no money going out Saturday night has cost me quite a bit. To pick up my car Monday from the towing company it cost me over $300!

5. I injured my knee.

After everything else that happened, I woke up Sunday morning a little hungover and my left knee that I've been having issues with decided to flare up. My weekend was a train wreck.

6. My bf lost his job.

After 5 weeks of suffering at a job that was paying him 20% less than the job, he had before they let him go. It wasn't going to be a long-term place, but it kept the bills paid for that time.

7. I stepped on a tac!

Just when I thought that the week couldn't get worse, last night while getting ready to take a shower, I stepped on a Tac! I have never in my life experienced such pain. Then I had to pull it out and that hurt even worse! My foot was bleeding, and of course, I was in pain but pissed off at the same time.

Not only have I been experiencing these troubles it's like everyone I know is having a run of bad luck. My Odyssey Family has been struggling and so have my friends. Not to mention all this has been happening since August's full moon.

Did I anger the Gods? Am I bad luck? There is no place for things to go but up! They have to, right? I mean it couldn't possibly get worse (Fingers crossed). Please say a prayer and send good vibes for me and my Odyssey family as well as my friends!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
