I Am From...

I am from writing and rewriting my story in many different ways.

I Am From...
Samantha Blasch

I am from blue shudders, red brick and tan concrete front porches, and white siding.

I am from antique funiture and shared rooms.

I am from tan painted cynderblock walls and recycled desks.

I am from chalk house in the driveway and Candyland in the living room.

I am from hot chocolate by the fire and decorating the tree together.

I am from church every Sunday morning and on the holidays too.

I am from being honest and being close in faith.

I am from being a child of God.

I am from loving people where they’re at and being there when they need someone.

I am from “I brought you into this world and I can take you out” and “The Magic Number is 4”.

I am from classic ice cream shops and home cooked meals.

I am from the last generation to remember where they were on September 11th.

I am from coming together to help each other stand back up when we fall down.

I am from wanting to make a difference.

I am from wanting everyone to have the opportunity to be able to take care of their family and themselves in every way possible.

I am from wanting to be a badass life saving human being like the incredible social workers that I learn from.

I am from many different houses, but only one home.

I am from being Welsh, Pennsylvania Dutch, Irish, and Polish in heritage and wearing all those badges with pride.

I am from dancing in the middle of the street in the rain.

I am from Friendsgiving in my living room with food and laughter abundant.

I am from endless cups of coffee and tea and the great conversations that come with it.

I am from fighting like cats and dogs, but loving with unbreakable fierceness.

I am from dancing out your worries in the living room and singing at the top of your lungs.

I am from all four seasons in one week.

I am from being born in the winter, but loving the beach and warm summer days.

I am from learning that the way society sees me shouldn’t be the way I see myself.

I am from being big boned and beautiful.

I am not alone in the world, even when it feels that way.

I am fearfully and wonderfully made by God.

I am unique.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
