I am an Army girlfriend.
I am my soldier's biggest supporter.
I only get to see my soldier for a couple of weeks out of the year.
It costs a month's worth of pay to travel to see him.
It is 10 times harder for me to see him than it is for his family.
I've dealt with being separated for 10 weeks and only having written letters as contact. Boot Camp was rough for him, but it was also rough for me.
I deal with dropped Skype/FaceTime calls, arguments with a computer screen, and screen sharing a movie as our date night.
I know the Phonetic Alphabet like the back of my hand because that will be the only way I will understand him spelling a word out for me.
He doesn't say he will text me at 7 p.m. -- he says he will text me at 1900.
I know the difference between ACU's and ASU's and trust me, your soldier notices these things.
If I miss a phone call from my soldier, it is heartbreaking because you don't know when you will get another.
I know he has more important things to focus on than me, but I will never stop supporting him.
I don't get to hug him everyday like you do.
No, I can't make plans for our future because we don't know where we will end up.
But I wouldn't change this situation for the world.
I am a proud Army girlfriend.
A special thanks to everyone in our Military. You all amaze me, thank you for your service.
