For me, there was something extremely calming about being at the top of an immense peak, in the middle of nowhere. At the highest point of the European continent, Jungfraujoch, it was as if everything else was insignificant. No worries, no fears, just limitless beauty and grace. For a minute, it was easy to forget the horde of other tourists, scrambling to take their pictures, and just to take a moment for myself, in appreciation. Never did I imagine I would be standing there one day, and never could I even think of an image so perfect and elegant in my mind.

It's been a year since my family vacationed in Switzerland, and since then, I have been trying to express my awe in words. I started the trip excited, yet wasn't sure of the sights I would see. The small nation was never at the top of my list of places that I eventually want to see and experience. What an oversight that was. Would it live up to the grandeur portrayed by classic, Bollywood romance ballads? It was so much more.

The luscious green fields, the mesmerizing waterfalls, and the pure, white peaks all come together to form a flawless landscape. Riding in the train, it was hard to do anything but look out the window and attempt to forever imprint the natural scenery into memory. At times, I found myself wondering how any of it could even be remotely real when it felt as if it would all go away with the blink of an eye.

The cities lacked any need to hurry and followed the pace of the calming rivers flowing through them. A line of bright and colorful buildings complemented the surrounding greenery. It was difficult to find even a spot of litter to taint such an artistic masterpiece.

How I wish many other places on our planet followed such an example. The world would be much cleaner and healthier. One day, I wish to go back and can only long for it to stay the same as the last time I visited. Switzerland is a true gem on Earth and makes me wonder if there is anything else that can make me catch my breath like I did on that mountain peak.
