To understand the love that I have for the 1975, I have to go back to the beginning. When I was a junior in high school, I heard a song on their very first album. I added that and a couple other songs of theirs to my playlist, but other than that they were just another band that I listened to that nobody else knew. By senior year, they became one my my favorite bands. I knew all their songs on their first album, but without really knowing what they were about. Then I went to college and everything changed. When I first got there, I didn't really know anybody. Most nights I stayed in and studied. During those nights, I started listening to The 1975 nonstop. I knew their album front to back. I knew all the members' names and backstories. That's also when I started actually listening to the lyrics and understanding what their music was about. After that, I was hooked.

To say that The 1975 changed my life is an understatement. I know that sounds dramatic, but if anyone has fallen in love with a band like I have, then you know exactly how this feels. Its like finding that one person that can break your heart and make you whole at the same time. Except you know they'll never leave you. I used to listen to the worst top forty. Now my taste in music has completely changed because of a group of four boys from England that make beautiful sounds.

After a brief hiatus, in April of this year, they released a brand new album with a brand new sound. I know some people were upset because "it doesn't sound like their old music." But that was the point. Yes, they sound more pop-y and instead of being in black and white they have a new pastel pink aesthetic. But it's just a facade. If you really listen to the music, the meaning is still there. Matty is a genius song writer. All the lyrics are so perfectly thought out and his poetry is mesmerizing. I am the type of person who needs the music I listen to to have substantial meaning, and The 1975 delivers.

There will never be a day where I don’t listen to The 1975. No matter how many times they change their sounds or their colors, they will always be the band that I am infatuated with. They're loyal to me, so I will always be loyal to them.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
