No Matter What Life Throws Your Way, Make Sure To Treat Your Body As A Temple
Nathan Dumlao

The world we live in is a hectic place - there is no doubt about it. Each day, we humans have to combat the highs, lows, and hustle of the ones around us, which are caused by the wanting we have to live the life we always have dreamed of.

This immense amount of pressure we put on ourselves to be successful and reach our goals is tremendous. And as we try our very best to succeed, we also have the stress of 100 other things that may be going on at that moment in time. From family and relationship issues to work disputes and the wanting to do well in our curricular activities and much more, who knows what could possibly be going on daily. With all of this comes the difficulty of remembering one of the most important points of all time.

As a matter of fact, this point is very simple. It is to care for yourself and ensure that in the process of life you don't lose yourself to the drama of what goes on. In 20 years, you don't want to be the person that looks back on their life and wonders what it would be like if you just followed your own path and did what you thought was best for yourself and just simply took care of yourself.

This task may seem very tedious and hard to do, but if you have the mindset of being your own person on top of wanting to be the successful man or woman you have always wanted to be, it is very doable.

The struggle of trying to not wake up and have the mindset of dreading going to work and then waiting with bated breath to come home so you just can go eat dinner, fall asleep, and do it again, isn't always the most ideal mindset to have.

Work is a necessity, I understand. But at the same time, you can go home and you can get a 30 minute cardio session in at the gym, you can sit down and start the book that you have been dying to open, you can go to the movie theater and see the movie you haven't had time to see, and how crazy does this sound? You can actually relax!

Work is tiring; it is far from easy, and for many, it is far from enjoyable. Just because work isn't the best part of your day, don't let it take over your life and the rest of the 24 hours you have left. To work hard is one thing, but to allow work to take over your life is not acceptable.

Having a job isn't the only thing that can make you feel as if you have zero time for yourself. Taking care of a family member or being a full-time student at a university are all things that can make you lose track of time and yourself. And if you have the mindset of not letting work or school just be your story, then go out there and be one with yourself.

Your body is a temple, and it needs your attention.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
