I Will Always Believe In Love

I Will Always Believe In Love

You fall off a bike, and you get back up and try again. You get a math problem wrong, so you restart and hope to get it right the next time. You cut your finger while making dinner, and you put a bandaid then continue about your business. Why should love be any different? Broken heart after broken heart, I will always believe in love.

Love, to me, is more than just something you say. It’s something that consumes you and it’s the way of your life. It’s being able to look at someone and get butterflies every time. It’s when you see his smile, and your world is a little better. Love is a sweet, precious thing, not something you can just give up on.

Some people will tell you that love is not for them, and that’s something I’ll never understand. How could you just not want someone who will always be there? How could you not want to go to sleep and wake up next to the same person? Why would you not want someone who is constantly pursuing you? I think the problem is not that people aren’t made for love, it’s that they don’t know what love is because our generation doesn’t know how to love.

Love isn’t demanding him to buy you whatever you want. Love isn’t making eye contact from across the bar, and him buying you a shot (although I’m not complaining). Love is knowing that whatever wrong you do, he will love you regardless. Love is every day, striving to be a better person because of him. And love is each other's goals is to make the other happy.

I want a love like my grandparents. They’ve been married for 51 years; I swear every time I see them, they’re more in love than the last time. They’ve grown old together. My Jama supported, loved, and prayed for my Pop while he was at war. My Pop took care of my Jama before and after her heart surgery, when we weren’t sure she was even going to make it. They’ve made it through the good and bad together, and still find ways to love each other, regardless.

Love won't always be dandelions and daisies. Every now and then, you'll have somethings to weed out. But love doesn’t have a switch; you can’t just turn it off when you don’t want it. Love is something that takes you by surprise and doesn’t let you go. I will not give up on love.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
