Wait, my deodorant has aluminum in it? That's the question you're probably asking, and the one that I asked two years ago. Most antiperspirants on the shelves contain aluminum, a brand like Degree, Dove and Secret are the most commonly used by women and contain aluminum. Let's learn the difference between an antiperspirant and deodorant, and then I'll tell you why you need to make this switch. An antiperspirant uses aluminum salts that plug the pores of your sweat glands in order to stop you from sweating, which by the way is a natural thing that nobody should be afraid of. A deodorant does not contain aluminum, although always read the ingredients on the back of what you are buying, you may be buying a combination of an antiperspirant and deodorant, which would contain aluminum.

Why is this such a big deal?

1. Links to breast cancer

Ladies!! This is so important. What you put under your arm is absorbed, meaning the aluminum in your antiperspirant is being absorbed and taken into your body, and as stated earlier, it clogs your sweat ducts, so when your body is trying to sweat out those bad toxins it can't leaving them stuck inside of you building up. Think about how many times you apply antiperspirant a day. Once? Twice Maybe? Even three times? Sweating is a natural action in the body, it's a way of releasing toxins and keeps the body healthy overall.

2. Alzeihmers disease

Many that suffer from Alzeihmers have high dosages of aluminium in their brains. Now there have been multiple studies to prove and disprove this so I will let you do your own research. It has been looked at as a leading cause of Alzeihmers.

3. Where can you get aluminium-free deodorant?

Native Deodorant is the brand that I currently use and have found to work the best, they offer an array of scents, have deodorant for men, and there's always a coupon.

Schmidt's Deodorant comes in at number two. It is great, and you can even order it off of Amazon, but I find myself to apply this more often throughout the day than I would like to.

Lavanila this is a popular brand I have not tried but have read many great reviews about, so definitely check them out as well.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
