With the summer heat settling in, slowly but surely some of the "water tastes like nothing" individuals may be looking for some alternatives that actually have some taste. Here are some tasty — and healthy — substitutes.

1. Alkaline water

What makes alkaline water better than the water that comes out of your fridge or sink? Well, for starters, it has a higher pH level, which means that it contains less acidity. It is even believed that it is able to neutralize acid levels in the bloodstream.

2. Iced tea

Each tea has many of its own benefits, which is why this is such a great option as an alternative. Chamomile tea assists in relaxing you, whereas black tea contains some caffeine and can assist in alertness. Let's not forget that there are flavored teas! Keeping the importance of health in mind — try to not sweeten your iced tea!

3. Coconut water

Not only is it a tasty source of hydration, but it has many other benefits which include, but are not limited to, assisting heart health and reducing blood pressure. It's a source of several good nutrients, containing antioxidant properties, and it is greatly beneficial after prolonged exercise. Studies show that there may even be benefits against diabetes!

4. Fruit-infused water

A majority of the Gen Z population refers to this as "detoxing water." Different combinations of fruit can have different benefits. It all depends on what you feel like having!

5. Maple water

This would be a great option for those of you who have a sweet tooth. It contains antioxidants, electrolytes, minerals and prebiotics. And who doesn't like the taste of maple?

6. Aloe water

We are all aware of the many vitamins and minerals that the aloe vera plant contains. Therefore, it is quite unsurprising to find that aloe water — which is made from aloe vera (duh) — is just as healthy. Some brands even contain real pieces of aloe vera!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
