Do You Hear What I Hear? Christmas music. It’s EVERYWHERE this time of year. From shopping malls, restaurants, the work office, to the car radio, you just can’t escape it. The holiday music madness typically begins the day after Thanksgiving, but thanks to the internet, social media and a variety of other social, cultural and economic factors, it starts to creep in much earlier year after year.

Don’t get me wrong. I love getting into the “spirit of Christmas” with holiday music. However, when traditional songs get airplay overkill and it seems to all be a bit too much, I turn to some of my favorite covered classics with a merry spin by today’s artists, in addition to some unconventional Christmas carols. In no particular order, here is a breakdown of my top 27 Alternative Christmas Carols:

1." White Christmas "- Otis Redding

2." Surfer's Christmas List "- The Surfaris

3. "Back Door Santa "- Jet

4. "Christmas Song "- Dave Matthews Band

5." Fairytale of New York "- The Pogues featuring Kristy MacColl

6." Angels We Have Heard on High "- Relient K

7. "What Christmas Means to Me" - Ceelo Green

8. "I Won't Be Home for Christmas" - blink 182

9. "Alone This Holiday" - The Used

10. "A Great Big Sled"- The Killers

11." Oi to the World "- No Doubt

12. "Christmas in Hollis" - Run DMC

13. "Yule Shoot Your Eye Out"- Fall Out Boy

14. "The Little Drum Machine Boy" - Beck

15. "Sleigh Ride" - The Late Greats

16. "Christmas" - Blues Traveler

17. "Run, Run Rudolph"- Sheryl Crow

18." Someday at Christmas"- Jack Johnson

19. "Gabriel's Message" - Sting

20. "Blue Christmas "- The Lumineers

21. "Christmas All Over Again"- Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

22." Let Me Sleep"- Pearl Jam

23. "O Holy Night"- Weezer

24. "Ave Maria "- Chris Cornell

25. "Twinkle "- J.D. MacPherson

26. "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas "- The Pretenders

27. "What are You Doing New Years Eve?" - The Head and the Heart

So when you’re sick of hearing Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You,” add a few songs from the list to your own festive Holiday mix. For the full alternative playlist, check out my Rockin’ Christmas playlist on Spotify.

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.
