Brown was reportedly unarmed when shot multiple times by Ferguson policeman Darren Wilson on August 9th. His death has sparked a national dialogue on police brutality, racial profiling by law enforcement, and the protection of citizens’ rights of due process and assembly. In the days following Brown’s death, demonstrations have taken place within Ferguson in the form of both peaceful protests and vandalism. Subsequent unrest between the majority black population of Ferguson and the nearly all-white police force led to Missouri Governor Jay Nixon declaring a state of emergency in the city and the implementation of curfews between midnight and 5 a.m.
As of this morning, a second autopsy has been approved by US Attorney General Eric Holder. The autopsy has come in response to continuous protesting and at the request of Brown's family according to CNN.
