Alone time is a great thing and needs to be appreciated more. It's so refreshing. It's time to think to yourself and time where you can make your own personal choices. In college, alone time is great. You can set your dorm room for how you want it and there is no need to compromise. You can have the room hot, cold, light, dark. How you want it. I am a huge believer in alone time because it makes me realize what I like. A lot of the time we are pushed to trends, and the ways of the people around us; but with alone time, you can be yourself. So how do we get alone time in college? How do we make the most out of the 2 hours your roommate is out of the room?
1. Turn the music up. Put on music to dance! Or music to meditate or stretch out in a yoga type of way. Music can make you feel a certain way, and is shown to increase your mood.
2. Create a mini-spa. Put on a face mask, do your nails, or deep condition your hair. Create an oasis for yourself in your dorms by taking a little time out of your busy day and putting it to your needs. You will not only feel better when doing it, but the next few days you will feel refreshed!
3. Go to the gym. Your roommate is home but you still need to get away? Go to the gym and work off all that negative tension. Working out will increase your endorphins and will make you feel good.
4. Read a book or watch television. Having your mind relax is one of the best ways to relax. Netflix and chill- with yourself!
5. Write in your journal. Getting your thoughts on paper can get you focused and ready to go! Also no one will be looking over your shoulder- you can write what you want and not be scared!
So go out, or stay home, but be alone. You will feel more relaxed and refreshed and for once you don't have to please others.
