It's Almost Spring Break, But Don't Freak Out!

Spring break. It’s supposed to be a time of rest and fun, right? Well most people see this as a panic to get in shape. No matter what plans you have for that week everyone feels inclined to be 20 pounds lighter. Stressing out about spring break will only make it harder for you to lose that excess weight. Also Fad diets may get you to the size you want for the break but that’s just temporary! Most who do fad diets find that after you stop and start eating real food again you gain all your weight back plus more! Think about this before you start starving yourself or going on crazy diets! Just eat healthy and get the recommended 30 minutes of exercise a day! Seriously, find how many calories you are eating right now and try to each day have just 200 calories less of your total and in a week you will have cut 1,400 calories plus the calories you burned throughout the week! This will make a difference. Instead of having that soda, that candy bar or that white bread sandwich, cut it out and see how much better your body feels and looks 40 days from now!

SMALL CHANGES WILL make the difference!

I would try limiting, not just getting rid of the “bad foods” cold turkey. If you cut things out completely you are going to be miserable, and not see long-term results.

I know a lot of people have talked to me about cleanses before the break. I think cleanses can be a great thing if it is the right type of cleanse. Personally I use an Advocare herbal cleanse. With this cleanse I get a probiotic restore, herbal cleanse tablets and a fiber drink. Why do I like or recommend this cleanse? I recommend this cleanse because you don’t starve yourself, you get to eat good foods for your body! You just cut out the nonsense! Plus it’s only 10 days… You can do anything for 10 days. Overall I love how it makes me feel, I have more energy, I feel like all the bad stuff is out of my system and I am ready for optimal nutrition.

When it comes to exercising, just do it! Even if it is just 30 minutes get up and get active. Do this for yourself, for your heart and for your health. Exercising can be anything from walking a little faster than usual, going for a one mile run, or doing a group fitness class. All are great for your body and your mental state will thank you as well. You will feel better and I guarantee you will be happier after you walk out of the gym or finish your workout.

Lastly, do this for yourself, don’t do this because everyone is dieting to get ready for the break. Feel free to get your friends involved in being healthy and doing this the right way. Push each other to go to the gym, to not eat that whole pizza alone, and to keep the positivity flowing. You can do it!

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

The Unwritten Rules Of "Talking"

What is "talking?" How does one "talk?"

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
