All I Want For Christmas Is...

Unlike Mariah Carey, I don't know what I want for Christmas.

All I Want For Christmas Is...
Golden Boys and Me

I’m sure everyone has been asked what they want for Christmas at least once in their lives. If anybody is like me, they have a hard time answering that question at this point in their lives. Mariah Carey wants you, Alvin the Chipmunk just wants a hula-hoop, a few little kids just want their two front teeth, and others want a hippopotamus (Cheyenne). Hopefully, others can get a few ideas from my list, or see how relevant they are to a college student’s life. I really just have no clue what I want as a present, but after a lot of thought, I managed to scrape up a list.

A boyfriend

One Direction

Better yet; a boyfriend from One Direction.
I am definitely kidding about all of those things. Sure, having a boyfriend might be nice, and meeting One Direction would make my life complete (fangirl exaggeration). I really don’t need either of those. I’m fine without a boy, and I feel like if I met One Direction I would just freak out and babble a few fragments of words and maybe a sentence.

Now onto the real list.

Books. Any books.

I have an insatiable love for reading and books. I would love to get a book from anyone. If any of my friends need to get a cheap present for me, get me your favorite book because I love experiencing the joy that someone else does when they read a book. Or go a step further and buy my textbooks for next semester!

Painting Supplies

A canvas, or some paint, or paint brushes. Anything really would be great. Painting really helps me relax, and that can also make your life better. Most likely if you buy me paint supplies, I will paint you something because my wall space is very limited, and soon yours will be too.

College Tuition

Every college student can tell you that paying for college really stresses them out. So, if anyone could fork up like $20,000 for tuition that would be greatly appreciated.

Food

Food is always a safe bet for most people. Other than me. If you would like to get me some goodies that are gluten and dairy free, please do. I would love it if I got some sweets that I can actually eat.

Hugs

It goes without saying that hugs make life better. Lately, I seem to not be getting as many hugs as I would like. Next time you see me, a nice hug would be nice for the both of us.

A break

Every student, and probably everybody else at this point, tend to be struggling at this point in the year. After months of working hard and never really having a chance to just sit without having to worry about deadlines and work, we all just need some time to unwind. So, if somehow there is a way to just pause time and just give me a few more days to relax without having an agenda, that would be great.

Love from friends and family

To be honest, I really don’t want anything other than love from friends and family. Just knowing that I have people there for me makes me feel so much better. So, if anyone really wants to get me the best present, just be my friend. I have already been blessed to have all of you in my life, so just continue our streak and be there for me. I appreciate all of my friends and family being the best present.

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you enjoy spending time with your family and friends.

P.S. A puppy would also be nice.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
