Most would think that having a birthday during December is a fun time, birthday presents one day then, depending on when in December, Christmas the next, well sometimes it can be aggravating. When I was younger, I thought it was so awesome to have my birthday during the same month as Christmas for the obvious reason of getting a lot of presents at one time; but now, I see a different view to this.
I know that it must seem like I hate my birthday but I don't, I really do like having a December birthday. I just realize now, that it can get expensive (especially with twins!) As stated earlier, when I was younger, it was so fun when my birthday came around because I knew that not too longer after, Christmas was coming. During the two-week time span in between my birthday and Christmas I knew that there would be a lot of toys that would be headed my way! When I was younger, it was obvious what I wanted for presents, TOYS (and definitely no clothes); but now it's the other way around!
A friend of mine's birthday is on Christmas, and I remember her mom telling me that, when my friend was younger, she was told that she should NEVER give her daughter a "combo gift" for her birthday and Christmas, she was to have a separate "Happy Birthday" bag and a "Merry Christmas" bag. I can understand this for when she was younger, but I am sure now that she doesn't really have a preference on if her bag is in a Christmas or birthday bag. But now that I am older, I am not totally against the idea of a "combo gift." I know that things are expensive and that you multiply that by two for just me, that's a lot. I feel that the money could go elsewhere instead of to two separate gift-giving occasions.
So I know that this sounds like I hate my birthday and Christmas being so close together but it's really not that bad. I couldn't imagine my birthday being any other time of the year and if it was, I'm sure the thought of having my birthday closer to Christmas would cross my mind. So to all of you December babies, Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas!
