It's been almost two years since All Time Low dropped their last album, "Future Hearts."
Now, the boys have dropped their latest single, "Dirty Laundry." The release came on BBC radio and was followed quickly by a music video on YouTube. You can watch the video and listen to the new song below.
With the song came several announcements. Among those, the two most important things to know are: a new album will be coming soon and labels have changed. (Again.)
A new album means a lot of exciting things. Tours, appearances, new music; fans can't wait for any of it. But there is apprehension. A new album on a new label hasn't exactly been a good thing for All Time Low in the past.
In late 2009, All Time Low left Hopeless Records. Hopeless is an independent label that generally works with pop-punk musicians. They moved to Interscope Records, a major branch of the Universal Music Group. Interscope was the same label that was working with big acts like Blink 182, Lady Gaga and Eminem. The change gave All Time Low the opportunity to get major publicity and attention in the music scene.
As you can imagine, since All Time Low isn't a household name like the other three artists, things didn't work out.
All Time Low resigned to Hopeless Records in 2012. However, after the release of Future Hearts in 2015, the band found themselves without a label again. In the beginning of 2017, they signed with Fueled By Ramen, a major label branch of the Warner Music Group and Atlantic Records.
Granted, this new move has more hope than the move to Interscope did. Fueled By Ramen is the label that holds the most successful artists in the pop/rock genre at the moment. TWENTY ØNE PILØTS and Panic! at the Disco are just two of the success stories from Fueled By Ramen. The label has proven that they know what to do when it comes to promoting bands in this scene, and they know how to successfully market them to a wider audience than life-long fans.
So, All Time Low fans, let's cross our fingers and hope this works out. And even if it doesn't, remember to give the boys your love anyway.
If it comes down to it, we survived one "Dirty Work." We'll survive another. But I hope it doesn't come to that.
Good luck with the new label, guys! I can't wait to hear everything else that you've been working on!
