Before I write my articles, I always have a full out jam session to get the creative juices flowing. I love music more than I can put into words. I listen to a wide variety of genres, but Hip-Hop, R&B, and Country will forever be my top three favorite genres. Liking all these different genres also means I like a lot different songs; to the point where my "favorite" song changes weekly. Since my favorite song is ever changing, nobody ever truly knows what it is. With that being said, I decided to compile a top five list of songs that will forever be my favorite. The songs are listed in no particular order with the exception of the first one.
1. Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen (1975) - Rock
If you don't like this song, I don't trust you. This song is a true classic and deserves to be at the very top of lists of great songs. The harmonies give me chills every time. It has always been a dream of mine to perform this song. I will forever be bitter that in my six years of being in concert choir and my two years of being in show choir, we never touched this song.
2. Differences by Ginuwine (2001) - R&B
I've been obsessed with this song since I was a little kid, probably since it was released if we're being completely honest. This is typically the type of song to dedicate to someone, but I just "ginwinely" enjoy listening to it. My favorite thing to do when I listen to this is mimic the background vocals.
3. Sunday Candy by Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment (2015) - Hip-Hop/R&B
I always forget that Chance the Rapper is the one performing. I like this song because it gives off happy vibes during the chorus, but can also hype you up when Chance comes on with his parts. When I first head this, I had it on repeat for quite a few days.
4. Boondocks by Little Big Town (2005) - Country
I know I said this about Bohemian Rhapsody, but I also probably don't trust you if you don't like this song. This is a song that should always be belted. The "you get a line, I'll get a pole" Crawdad song tease towards the end will forever be iconic.
5. God, Your Mama, And Me by Florida Georgia Line (2016) - Country
I'll be honest and say this song can make me emotional. I think the whole song is a powerful feel good song, but the chorus really speaks to me. Listening to this can instantly turn my mood around. Fun fact: This song makes a fantastic car jam!
There you have it! My top five favorite songs all in one place. I hope you all take the time to listen to these and enjoy them as much as I do!
