So you've been a devout "Gilmore" fan since the first episode aired in 2000. This most likely means you are currently flipping out about the fact that "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" airs today. Like you, I fantasize about having a cup of coffee at Luke's and exchanging obscure movie references with Lorelai and Rory.
Of course, something the Gilmore girls are known for is their ability to shovel copious amounts of junk food into their mouths (and still be incredibly skinny like... what?). To truly embrace the craziness that the Gilmore girls exude, you're going to need some junk food comfort food of your own to get through your binge watch of the new series. Here's a list of the top nine "Gilmore Approved Foods" you'll want to nosh on while watching the crazy antics of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore this weekend!
1. Pop Tarts
A pantry staple of the Gilmore house, pop tarts are a must when watching Gilmore Girls! If you don't have a box on hand, are you really a fan?
2. Pie
Lorelai and Rory are often seen chowing down on pie at Luke's Diner. A Gilmore recommendation would be a big slice of apple pie, probably with a large scoop of ice cream on top.
3. Burgers
It's been said by multiple sources that hamburgers are the closest that a Gilmore will get to a salad. Try topping one of these babies with lots of cheese, bacon, and other savory goodies to make it even better.
4. Chinese Food
While you might not be able to get questionable orange chicken from Al's Pancake World, Chinese food is always a good option! Grab some (not so sketchy) orange chicken, chow mein, and a fortune cookie before you sit down to binge watch.
5. Mallomars
Mallomars are such a big deal to the Gilmores that Rory made Lorelai a Mallomar display for her birthday one year. (Mother/Daughter goals?) These snacks are always good when you feel like you can't eat anymore, because you can and will eat a whole box of Mallomars.
6. Fries
Dubbed as "the Devil's starchy fingers" by Mrs. Kim, fries are a must if you're on this whole binge watching train for the long haul. Try a basket with a big side of your favorite condiment and a large dusting of salt.
7. Pizza
For all of the binge-watching that our beloved Rory and Lorelai did themselves, they usually had a big slice of cheesy pizza to chow down on. A box with a side of garlic twists is probably a safe bet for your Netflix needs.
8. Danishes
Luke is famous for his cherry danishes, loved by Rory and Lorelai (but mostly Lorelai) for many a year in Stars Hollow. Grab a big plate and dig in, just don't use two cell phones at once while eating one.
9. Coffee
Duh.
