We live in serious times. Literally. We have a funky presidential election coming up, and our choices are not the best. Summer break is almost over, and pretty soon we will all be clobbered with some kind of homework. We cannot share our religious belief without being scrutinized. Life is just not letting up on us, which is why we need to be a winner in our life! I played sports growing up, and when I was younger I was not very competitive, so I did not care if I lost a game. Because I believed that what truly mattered was how well we played the game, not how big the number got, which I still believe is very important. However, here recently in my grown-up life, I have discovered how amazing it feels to be a winner. I hate losing now because there is also no reason for us not to be winners. I think it is in our nature to want to win, or it is in mine at least, which leads to my lovely goal of winning life. I want to live my life in such a way that at the end of my race I am rewarded with a golden medal, which means I not only need to win in the big moments of my life, but I also need to win in the smaller moments. Sometimes I am guilty of not putting in 110 percent, and I think it is safe to say I am not the only one who does that. But we only have one life that we cannot get back, so why are we wasting it when we could become the greatest person that we could ever be. Why are we not putting all of our effort into each day? To be perfectly honest, I do not have an answer for you, but I think it is safe to say that we each lack what it takes to win every moment in our life. We doubt that we are good enough. We get too concentrated on the bigger moments and forget that the smaller moments in our life matter just as much. We spend more time trying to show the world who we are instead of actually creating a personality and becoming something great. But guess what? We do have the ability to win life. It just means that instead of giving up, we have to try our best and to do everything with our best foot forward. Instead of retreating and not trying, we must stand up for what we believe in and we make every moment count. Instead of counting down the minutes to the next best thing, we need to take time to show thankfulness for what the Lord has already given us, and everything that He will give us. Because here’s the thing, we each have the ability to win life, we only need to believe that we actually can. Every moment matters, no matter how big or small it may be.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
