With college classes beginning in less than a month, the (often) forced small talk between your family members and friends consists of the typical "so what kinds of classes are you taking?" So then of course the typical reply is something super specific like, "Oral Interpretation of Literature" which then warrants the response "huh?" from said family member/colleague. The same conversation is also common between your very own college friends, specifically those college friends who are majoring in something different then yours.
As a communication major myself, long story short, I am very familiar with how to prepare a speech and how the media influences life. On the other hand, some of my closest friends who are science majors are experts at whipping out a lab report two hours before it's due and have all the parts of the cell ingrained into their brain. Obviously, these subjects are extremely different when it comes to the material taught in class.
Although extremely different, both of these majors are just as difficult as the other.
I will reiterate this for the skimmers: All college majors are created equal.
I've often gotten into multiple arguments with my classmates about 'who's major is better.' It's time to halt the battle of the majors and appreciate each major for what it offers.
To the humanities majors: write your essays and keep killing those weekly presentations.
To the business majors: keep on top of those financial numbers and work hard on those fresh innovations.
To the natural science majors: the rest of us are trusting you to know how to replace our knees when the time comes and mix all those things together to create awesome things.
To the mathematics majors: may God be with you.
To the art majors: thank you for providing us with wall decorations and for taking our graduation pictures.
At the end of the day, we are all college students and we can all relate to the struggle of procrastination and the seemingly unending amount of homework. So rock on into the bright future that's patiently waiting for each and every one of you.
