This past week there were two videos shown all over social media that was disturbing to everyone who saw it. Two black men shot senselessly by the hands of the police. To all who may read this, what else can I say? What other argument can I or any other person compose to get the point across? The video speaks for itself. There is evidence of the injustices of citizens here in America, and still people make an opposing argument saying otherwise. But this is nothing new because it has happened time and time again.
It’s not easy in life. We have to worry about making sure everyone has food in thier fridge to eat. We have to worry about paying mortgages, car notes, taxes. Let me add something to the black household. Now they have to worry about if their husbands, wives, sons, daughters, nephews, and nieces making it home safe without an altercation with the police. There have over 500 people that have been killed by police alone in 2016. We know the urban community has its struggle with graduating rates, and job rates, but we need people alive in order to graduate and get a job. Let's stay on track and address the serious problem. Police who are trained and supposed to protect and serve, but know how to approach a black man the proper way.
For all the people who are quick to overthrow Black Lives Matter with All Lives Matter. White people have a number of 238 deaths by the hands of the police. Why are you silent when it comes to a white person being killed by the hands of enforcement? I thought “All” lives mattered. 26 people in law enforcement were killed just this year and what happened in Dallas was a horrible act. 5 policeman shot and killed by a sniper, and some leave behind children and wives. But let us not forget that Alton Sterling who leaves behind 5 children, and his wife. Let us not forget about Philando Castile who leaves behind a daughter and family. Let us not forget about Eric Garner who leaves behind his wife, 6 children, and three grandkids. Let us not forget about Tamir Rice the young boy who leaves a future he will never walk into.
We’re hurting, we’re suffering, we’re crying, and worrying, and I know the police walk out and put their lives out on the line everyday. Blacks feel they’re putting their lives on the line as well when there are cops who seem to be gun happy. It’s more than a tragedy that people have lost their lives, especially these past few days. It’s driven by hatred and power and the only thing for them to hide behind is a gun. We the people that know Black Lives Matter, we will not give in. We will continue to march, we will continue to share posts on Facebook. We will continue to tweet about Black Lives Matter, we will continue to amplify our voices. We will continue to pray, we will continue to use our minds. We won’t give up because we have hope, faith, and God to back us up. We want justice, equality, and peace. All lives matter -white, brown, red, yellow, blue, but “All” black lives matter too.
