All About Me

A personal Q&A about myself

6
All About Me
Emily Haupt

I had a busy week. Between work and homework, I really did not have much time to get out of the house, so I didn’t get any inspiration on what to write about this week. I thought it would be different to answer some questions about myself so you guys can relate to me more and get a sense of who I am and where I come from. I did not make these questions up on my own, so I have to give credit where credit is due.

Who is your hero?

I would have to say my dad is my hero. He never gives up and is always there for his family. He is 51 and is still riding in 150-mile bike races and gets up every other day at five in the morning to play basketball.

What would you change about yourself if you could?

I know people might get frustrated when I say this but I think I would change my weight.

What really makes you angry?

I think what makes me the most angry is when people judge and make fun of others just to make themselves feel better.

What are your religious viewpoints?

I’m a Christian.

What is your favorite game or sport to watch and play?

I love playing basketball. I’ve played since I was six years old, but I like to watch baseball.

Have you ever had a nickname? What is it?

My teammates used to call me the purple monster because at basketball camp in eighth grade I was on the purple team.

Would you rather win the lottery or work at the perfect job? And why?

I know some of you might say “yeah right,” but honestly, I think work at the perfect job because having a job gives you a sense of worth and I wouldn’t want to become privileged and lazy.

What are your hobbies?

I like playing basketball, exercising, hanging an having fun with my friends, chilling with my family, and taking pictures.

List two pet peeves.

When people talk behind someone’s back and then 0.5 seconds later are back to being best friends and when people judge a book by its cover.

How many pillows do you sleep with?

I sleep with three. I have my two regular pillows and my long body pillow.

What's the longest you've gone without sleep (and why)?

I have gone 49 hours without sleep before because I procrastinated and had to stay up to finish a big chemistry lab report.

How often do you buy clothes?

Not as often as a lot of girls. I used to be bad with that but since I started working I wanted to spend my money on concert tickets, sporting events, etc. So I buy new clothes maybe once a month.

Are you a clean or messy person?

I am definitely a clean person I hate when things are messy and dirty.

What's your favorite movie?

Now You See Me or Now You See Me 2

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

I would like to live in Greece or Australia. I think they are both breathtaking.

What is your biggest fear?

I know this is a little over the top but my biggest fear is drowning. I also hate spiders and not a fan of heights.

What did you want to be when you were small?

I used to want to be a teacher.

What two radio stations do you listen to in the car the most?

Since the radio stations are different everywhere I listen to country (not the twangy kind) and I listen to today’s hits.

Do you love or hate roller coasters?

Since I hate heights I’m not a fan of roller coasters and if I do ride them my eyes are shut the entire time.

What's your favorite fast food chain?

Sheetz because you can also be healthy there even though I usually never pick the healthy options.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
