A woman decides to go out in front of millions of people without make up on her face and people get their panties in a twist.
This alone is what is wrong with society. And if you're not familiar with what's going on, I'll fill you in.
Alicia Keys has been living her life with a bare face. No make up, no nothin'. Simple right? In this world, not quite. She set foot on the VMAs red carpet without make up and everyone was quick to judge her. Some people adored the idea, and others just continued to throw shade.
What Alicia Keys is doing is something pretty uncommon nowadays. There are 12 year old girls wearing full faces of make up because they believe that makeup is the only thing that will make them beautiful, and this is far from the truth. Beauty comes from within, and teaching young girls that what you see on the outside is all that matters is truly damaging society. If you love to wear make up, in the words of Alicia Keys, 'Do you!'.
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with makeup. I wear it, and I know plenty of people, men and women, who wear it. What's wrong is that people are upset and judging someone for doing something that makes them happy, something that makes them feel beautiful.
I support Alicia Keys for standing up and saying that she truly enjoys being without makeup, and I believe many girls should look up to her for this. I mean, how many people have the guts to stand up for themselves nowadays anyway?
