R&B & Soul singer Alicia Keys is known for her amazing vocals and emotional-felt lyrics of love and life. However, she has been making headlines due to things other than her music. The Grammy-award winning singer has stopped wearing make-up for the past few months. She recently went make-up less to the VMA's, the National Democratic Convention, the BET awards, on the cover of UK Grazia magazine and in the September Issue of Ebony.
While some people are loving her decision, she has been receiving a lot of backlash lately:
I am personally all for the movement. It's nice to see a celebrity who's confident in her own, natural skin. Talk about setting examples for other women and young girls, Alicia Keys is all that with this one. The use of make-up is so embedded in our society and ourselves to the point where many women/girls think they NEED it; whether it's to cover up or look "better." While many women in the media are insecure about their looks, Alicia is in fact opposite, and I don't blame her. Shout out to her for showing us that we can be happy, secure and confident without make-up.
