12 Reasons Why Everyone Should Appreciate 'Hamilton: The Musical'

Disclaimer: Here is a little bit of information about "Hamilton: An American Musical" before you read the on: It's amazing. OK, carry on.

1. It's New

Good things don't last forever -- we know that from empty Nutella jars -- and new things are always the best things! If you really care about staying updated in any fandom, then you better listen to this.

2. It's about U.S. History

Though this is not your high school teacher's social studies class, this musical tells you the tale of Alexander Hamilton. If you can remember from high school, we rarely talk about Hamilton. I remember barely talking about him. This gives you a chance to see his life from a whole new perspective.

3. Lin-Manuel Miranda is literally goals.

His hair, his skills, his writing, his rapping...Lin can basically do it all. Right now he is the Beyonce of musical theatre. Yeah, I said it. He is a god when it comes to how well he can orchestrate a three-hour musical because of reading a book. He literally read a book and made a musical. That is uh-mazing.

4. The Schuyler Sisters are bad AF

This girls are not your average sisters. They compliment each other vocally and know how to appreciate the stage. And good things come in threes.

5. It has old school R&B

This musical literally makes you want to dance. If not, it makes you want to belt out loud notes in the shower. Though it is based on history, some of the songs are timeless. If you're into old school R&B then you will be incredibly satisfied.

6. "Helpless" will literally be my wedding song

I am in love with this song. Just look at the lyrics:

It makes me want to fall in love.

7. Makes you care about history for like, five seconds

From King George's "I will kill your entire family" song to the Election of 1800, it makes you appreciate where we have been as a nation. And it makes you want to look up fun facts about Alexander Hamilton.

8. The fashion

I do not care what people say, the fashion in the late 1700s is the bomb. Sometimes, I wish our fashion choices were like that not but then again, not really because getting ready for classes would take forever.

9. It has a culturally represented cast.

The diversity in this show is absolutely stunning. A Puerto Rican Hamilton, a half Asian leading female character. This show does it all. I am loving all that melanin.

10. Lin's beautiful hair

Need I say more?

11. It shows you that a hip-hop musical can be a successful thing.

If you have not heard of Miranda's musical theater past, some of his other shows were hip-hop related but were...not so good. But after engrossing yourself with this new album, you realize that he was saving up to make this very very incredible.

12. There's a founding father rap battle

...exactly.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
