An Open Letter To My Squad

Dear Squad,

Without your friendships I do not know what my life would have been like at college. Maybe we did not know each other forever let alone all four years but it feels like we have. You guys are the ones that I know I can always come to when I need a drunken night, a nice calm dinner, a shoulder to cry on, a good laugh and a judgement free zone.

The thing that makes us great is we can handle ourselves in any situation but it is sure nice to have you guys right there incase someone gets a little overboard. You guys are the dancing queens, and drinking machines in my life and thank god for that because I can not do it all on my own. Maybe people find us annoying because we really only go out with each other. And maybe people find us clingy, but we really all just get each other.

What is also great is we are not even close to being similar. Every group needs the mom, who makes sure everyone gets home safely. If you do not want to leave with a guy she is right there to pull you away and let the guy know he is no longer needed. Every squad needs that one friend who is always getting into awkward situations and does not know how they get there ever because usually they are the drunkest one. The friend who is always up for a good time no questions asked ever. The friend who you have to kind of push to get them out but once they do they bring the party with them.

We have stories to tell, some of those stories can't go untold. Our friendships are the most valuable to me. We all look forward to spending time together even if it is a movie night with no homework.

You guys are the first people I want to tell good news to. The first people to celebrate any event at any time with and to know that I am here at any given time for you. I know that no matter what, you guys will never judge me. You accept me for me even if I come off completely rude or a little dramatic about situations. Thanks for keeping everything pretty much drama free because none of us need that in our lives.

This is me saying thanks for everything. Thanks for always including me in basically everything, even if I couldn't come. Thanks for sending me snaps on a regular basis so I could keep up with your life. Thanks for making time to skype and text and just catching up with me and caring about me. I could not have done my first round of senior year without you four and I do not know what I am going to do for my last round without any of you. But I know you guys all are going to be doing great things in life and are some of the most intelligent, driven and hard working women I know and I am proud to call you guys my best friends.

Until next time,

I love you squad.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.
