A Letter To High School Seniors

Dear high school seniors,

Your senior year will be the most bitter sweet time of your life, it is the time that we all dreamed of. As you're wishing away every day of high school to get to this time you're finally here and it doesn't seem real. You're finally the top class and the ones to have all the fun activities and the best part graduation is right down the road. This is the last chance you have to talk to the person next to you in your Math class and tell that teacher their your all time favorite. You're at the point in you're high school career that you are making your last marks on the people around you.

The saddest thing to think about is this is your year of lasts. Your last sporting events, your last marching band practice, your last cheer competition, your last prom, your last homecoming, etc. This is all the most bitter sweet part about high school. I'm not saying any of this to make you sad but to show you that this is the year you need to cherish. Don't worry about that guy/girl that keeps playing you, cut back your hours at your job, keep an open mind when it comes to doing things as a class and most of all take chances. High school is seriously unlike any other time in your life. That girl that you talk to everyday in English class you probably won't see again until your class reunion. You will never attend the same school with all your classmates or social events. Make sure you keep your people close, your memories with them will never fade.

Don't be afraid to stick out and take chances. Go to those sporting events and dress as crazy as you want and cheer as loud as you can. Try out for the lead role in your schools spring play. Go out on the weekends with your favorite people, you may regret it the next day but you won't a year down the road. Go crazy on fall and spring break with your best friends. And make sure you don't leave for college with any unfinished business or grudges. Life is too short for all of that.

No matter what anyone says the best thing about high school is all the friendships you make. As you go through your senior year hold your friends closer than you ever have. When you go to college you may not keep in contact with them all the time, so make sure you spend all the time in the world with them. Make sure your friends know how much you value the friendship y'all have. Make sure your friendships are strong enough to where y'all don't have to come to a dead end road when y'all graduate. Trust me, friendships that you value are the ones that will last through college. Enjoy every waking moment with your friends and family and make sure to put them first. You may not think so but you'll miss your family like crazy. We are all ready to leave and be on our own, however, even when we don't like to say it a little bit of us misses being home with our family.

You've probably heard a million times that college will be the best four years of your life. To be honest they aren't lying! But make sure you live life to the fullest while you're in high school. As college is the best time of your life so is high school just on two different levels.

Good luck seniors and make sure you make the best of your last year as a high school student. You won't regret it!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
