During my trip to Albuquerque, I learned a lot things. From how to look and act professional, to understanding the difference between green chili sauce and red chili sauce. While I was taught these lessons, I was also making a ton of memories with some of the coolest people I have ever met. If you ever have the chance to travel across the country with a group of people you barely know, I encourage it because you might make some pretty amazing friendships along the way.
1. Green chili sauce and red chili sauce are two very different things.
2. If you tell your waiter you want "Christmas!" that means they are going to give you both sauces. Be careful what you wish for.
3. Dining out is an experience that you have to be willing to wait for.
4. Albuquerque is a hard word to spell, so make sure to spell check frequently.
5. Downtown Albuquerque is beautiful. Explore it as much as you can.
6. Remember to always pack water in your bag if you're planning on hiking. Dehydration is pretty awful.
7. Do not climb on petroglyphs or else you will be scolded, and rightfully so.
8. The Mexican food scene is one to die for.
9. Check out the jewelry in Downtown Albuquerque! You'll probably find something beautiful there.
10. Look at the mountains when the sun sets. You'll see them change colors!
From what I've seen, Albuquerque is a city of absolute beauty and adventure. If you love seeing nature come to life, plan your trip to New Mexico right away. As a Kansas girl, I was amazed by the size of the mountains and how amazing and vast the atmosphere is in New Mexico. I cannot wait to make a trip down there again someday soon.
