Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally have been blessing us with their music since their first album came out back in 2006. 12 years later, their album titled "7" (their 7th album) was released and lived up to its high expectations. The unique and intimate significance that is presented in the album lead it to be one of, it not the best album of the year. With amazing albums already released such as "Bloom" and "Depression Cherry", it was hard to fathom how an even better album could possibly be released by the dynamic duo. What makes "7" so special is the many tunes for nights that consist of heartbreak, depression, and no sleep (like most Beach House songs) as well as tunes that make you want to dance and let loose. Beach House has a history of outstanding albums with meaningful and touching traits leaving their listeners speechless.
Beach House recently made a decision to stop working with their original producer named Chris Coady. Coady has produced many outstanding albums with Beach House, and not having him by their side in the making of "7" was almost a risky move. They collaborated with Sonic Boom instead and, as per usual, the album turned out to be a success even with the changes made.
Getting down to the nitty-gritty of "7", this album gives off meaningful lyrics with the different colors of life. It displays the beauty in times of trouble and the origin of love after a tragedy. It ultimately shows that failure is the path to wisdom. Beach House is praised for their work for many different reasons. However, using their talent as a platform for teaching life lessons is one of their most precious ones. Scally says "We had a feeling while making this album that we also had while making Teen Dream. All of us are stuck in our own brains. When you find a new energy field, it can be really exciting, and both of us were feeling that. This feels like the most joyful record we've made since then." Although the calmness presented in the album can put someone in deep feelings and thoughts, "7" was made with joyous intentions and created by two best friends. The connection behind the making of the album makes it all the more special.
Now, let's focus on the musical part of this masterpiece.
Beach house, in general, has a unique, relaxed vibe. starts out with a fun and steady drum roll that sets the tone for the whole album. There is some variety in the album that brings a whole other level of excitement that the two have never brought out before (such as songs like Dark Springs and Lemon Glow). The energized beat is very refreshing and compliments the album nicely with their other mystical tunes. Beach House exceeds the average musical expectations, and it's no doubt that their music to come will only continue to get better.
