My Thoughts About Aladdin the Musical

As a child, I loved watching Aladdin and even today I still enjoy watching it, even the 2019 one. So when I was able to get the opportunity to watch the musical, I was ecstatic! This was definitely an experience!

My Thoughts About Aladdin the Musical

Aladdin is one of my favorite Disney movies of all time. The magic, excitement, and of course the music captured my attention immediately and I was hooked! This classic movie, despite its controversies, was a thrilling masterpiece that I still enjoy to this day. Even this year's live adaptation, with its fresh take on the classic, was refreshing and worth the rewatch! So when I realized I could watch this in musical form, I knew I couldn't pass this opportunity!

As this was my first musical, I didn't know what to expect. When the music started, I started to get goosebumps. The first song was absolutely magical with exciting music and bursts of color on stage. It was different than what I expected but it was a great start!

Out of all the songs, "Friend Like Me" was my favorite! The magical energy of this musical number was contagious! The gold and glitter of the background only added to the excitement of the song. The cast was amazing! The choreography and costumes were spectacular! I was amazed throughout this performance.

Other than "Friend Like Me", I liked all the other songs. But for some of them I didn't quite like how they were presented. I felt like "Prince Ali" was not as grand as I expected. I didn't really feel the same energy I usually get when I hear this song. It was definitely a good performance, but I felt that it was underwhelming for such a high energy number. Even still, I enjoyed all of the music, especially the interesting additions to the classic songs.

But the music wasn't the only thing that was different. Some of these other changes weren't exactly my favorite. I didn't quite like that Aladdin's pet monkey, Abu, was replaced, especially since Abu had a significant role in the movies. As much as I liked that Aladdin had actual human friends in the musical, it was weird that his beloved monkey wasn't a part of this show. Other than that, I didn't quite like Iago. To be honest, I just felt that he was better as a parrot. Despite that, I enjoyed seeing Aladdin, Jasmine, and Genie. They were as good as their movie counterparts.

Overall, I enjoyed this musical and how it turned. Even though I liked the movies better, this was a fun adaptation to watch and something worth watching.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
