3. If possible, get TSA pre-check.
4. If in doubt, check the TSA website to know if something can go through or not.

5. Toiletries:
Try to keep to transparent bottles that are 3 o.z. or less, but if not, make sure the label is visible and readable. Be conservative on what you bring. Double check that you have ALL liquids in a Ziplock Quart sized bag. And for easier access at security, make sure it is on top of your bag. Keep all other personal items at the bottom of your bag and double check for any sharp objects or liquids you may have forgotten you had in your bag previously.
6. Ladies:
Keep all personal items in the bottom of your bag, and turn your necklace around as you go through the scanner. Men and Ladies: Avoid wearing belts, they are often required to be taken off. If need be, put your belt in your bag beforehand and put it on after security. Same goes for jackets, or half zips (or any zippers), as they are sometimes asked to be removed so wear something underneath in case you are asked. It helps avoid a pat down sometimes.
7. Boarding Passes:
Having mobile access is okay, but in case of phone shut down or inability to retrieve your pass, make sure you have a paper boarding pass for back up. Second, always make sure that you are ready with your boarding pass and identification in your hands ready to go when you reach the front of the line to be checked.
8. Overstuffed bags
Overstuffed bags move through scanners slowly and can be subjected to more hand-checks than not. Dense items such as protein powder and small, thick books can be pulled out.
9. Laptops and any device:
Make sure there are no CDs in your player, make sure your laptop is easily accessible in your bag, but you don't have to pull it out of the sleeve unless asked. Also, better be safe than sorry and bring our your Kindle, Nook, iPad or any such device as it will avoid slow down or the agents having to hand-check your bags.
10: Shoes:
Make sure your shoes can easily come on and off, avoid wearing shoes that have laces. Wear socks underneath for warmth against the floor, and a barrier against germs.
If you are unsure about anything, ask and don't assume. Double check your packing to insure you have what you need in there, and what shouldn't be in there like sharp objects or liquids above 3 o.z. have been removed. Breathe, look relaxed, and get there early.
