Men and women wearing orange striped neon vests were zipping around in automated carts transporting luggage from plane to plane. The more senior employees got to control the radio. It was early morning, stupid early really, like “feel nauseous waking up” early. Despite the absurd time of day, all of the employees seemed chipper. Every employee seemed happy to be alive and made sure to wave and smile at each other every time they made eye contact.
Okay just try to appreciate the setting I’m trying to create here. I’m going for a smooth silky opening, if I had to put the feeling into a color it would be like a warm yellowish-gold hue attached to everything. Also, don’t forget that the sun is just coming up. Have you seen sunrises? Shit is beautiful. So now that you see how aesthetically pleasing the opening is –– a wide open airport run way, glistening early morning sunrise and good wholesome folk smiling at each other –– bottle that feeling the scene gives you and hold on to it as you continue to (hopefully *fingers crossed emoji*) read this story.
I don’t want to give it away yet. Frankly, it’s just too hard to read a story all at once. When you take it all in at once you don’t have time to contemplate what you just heard. I don’t think you can really appreciate and ultimately take something from a story if you don’t understand chain of events. I mean like really think about how everything is connected. How everything crosses paths once in awhile and builds a story – or at least something to look at for the time being.
Or maybe I just didn’t write it.
It already happened, it just hasn’t been written down yet so please just bare with me.
OK, so let’s recap:
Open with big sweeping shots of an airport run way at sunrise. It’s beautiful, actually awe inspiring, if you’re struggle with a lack of inspiration. There’s also a bunch of really nice people driving around the giant interconnected runway smiling at each other and doing their jobs.
It’s a pretty nice scene to imagine right? At the very least just promise me you won’t go anywhere. I want you to hear about what happened next.
