With American Horror Story: 1984 out it is time to look back once again at all the seasons before and looked at which ones were the best and which missed the mark.

AHS Seasons Ranked

In This Article:

The following is my own personal opinion on which seasons were the best and which were the worse.

Season 3: Coven

This is one of the most highly ranked seasons among the AHS fan-base. With a nice tight storyline about a witch coven in need of a new leader and a new interesting setting of New Orleans, with a history of witchcraft and voodoo. AHS did the best work to date on this season, especially bring in actors Emma Roberts, (this was her first season in AHS) Gabourey Sidibe, and Stevie Nicks.

Season 1: Murder House

What at first seemed like a cliched mess, soon becomes subverted with the ghost, infantata, and murder upon murder all in one house and kicks off the AHS series. Though this season's story is a bit all over the place and sometimes doesn't make too much sense. But it is still an interesting ride and still one of the best seasons in my opinion.

Season 4: Hotel

Two words: Lady Gaga. That's all. Hotel to many fans is not one of the best seasons, but I love how the over the top it is. It's crazy story line with a hotel home to ghost who died there, like murder house, and Wes Bentley's character trying to solve a slew of murders. Hotel is an acid trip but one I highly recommend giving a watch. Even though there are too many characters and story lines going on, it's still a good season.

Season 8: Apocalypse

Apocalypse is the Murder House and Coven crossover season we have been waiting on. The witches have some competition over who is most powerful as the anti-Christ has realized his power and tries to take over. All starting with a nuclear apocalypse. This was the shortest season so far which made the story too short and not fully fleshed out as it should be. However, new actor and dream boat Cody Fern is brought in this season as Michael. Also, this season was focused more on coven than murder house, which is a little saddening to me.

Season 4: Freak Show

The fourth season and last season with Jessica Lange was one of my least favorites. Partially because of the freak show setting and also the big bad of this season being Dandy Mott was one of my least favorite villains as well. As much as I am a fan of the 1950s time setting this season just wasn't my jam. Maybe it is because I couldn't look at Twisty the clown half the time he was on screen and with one of the saddest endings, this season just didn't catch my eye like the others.

Season 2: Asylum

Many AHS fans love Asylum it brought Sarah Paulson into her usual final girl and main character position in the show but this is one of the most boring seasons of the show. Which makes no sense as this is the season with not only demons, an angel of death, Nazis, aliens, and a killer Santa Claus. This season somehow had too much going on and too much talking and not enough action for it.

Season 6: Roanoke

The creators had an interesting idea for Roanoke. Giving it a show within a show structured around a house in Roanoke. I was surprised by the new format and was fine with it, until halfway through the season when the "show season" ended and I thought the show would return to normal format but decides to go a more found footage style and have both the people who lived in the house and their dramatic reaction counter parts go back to the house and record them during the blood moon. I was not a fan of this format and this was not one of the strongest seasons especially with the second half.

Season 7: Cult

After Roanoke, the fans were happy to go back to the old format, but once again this season didn't do a good job at keeping the audience happy for long. As AHS decides to go political about the 2016 election and having the chaos about it create a cult. This is the only season to this day I haven't finished and probably would not. Partially because as far as I got in the season there were no supernatural element and more grounded in reality which is not what I am looking for in American Horror Story, but of course it makes sense to do this looking at the series as a whole.

April Ludgate
NBC Universal

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
