Speculation has been everywhere surrounding the theme of the much anticipated six season of American Horror Story. Turns out, this year's theme is Roanoke. To make things even more awesome, some genius decided to mask this season as a documentary-esque ghost tv-show entitled, My Roanoke Nightmare. This season also has an incredible cinematic approach.
I first have to say, casting Sarah Paulson as Lily Rabe in the re-enactment is so brilliant. It's even more perfect seeing her as the love interest of Cuba Gooding Jr. as they played rivals on the past season of American Crime Story. I love that Kathy Bates is so far a villain. Angela Basset plays an ex-cop battling her sobriety named Lee. I'm anticipating Evan Peters and Lady Gaga will somehow fall in her story line. This season just already has so much to offer and it just started,
The basic plot of this season is a disguise of a tv-show entitled, My Roanoke Nightmare. Matt and Shelby move to North Carolina from Los Angeles (Hotel or Murderhouse connection?) to get a new start. Not long into their stay at their eerie home, they are plagued by odd events such as a dead pig at the door, a hybrid man-pig creature, and a possibly ghost/zombie group of crazies led by Kathy Bates. The episode ends with the group deciding that they have to fight to stay in their home.
This season has definitely given a breath of fresh air into the show, Having to top the past season of Hotel full of erotic, chain smoking ghosts and vampires, Roanoke had a lot to live up to. Roanoke is more on the horror side like Asylum. This season is skipping the camp and drama for real scares. This season also feels the most grounded. These characters are so real; like real people. You actually feel like there are people like them in the world. American Horror Story Roanoke has already littered our brains with excitement. This season has a grand amount of dark imagery that us fans have been dying for. Check in this Wednesday and see what happens next.
