There is something about the special relationship between a mother and daughter that is basically impossible to explain. You love them with all your heart, but sometimes you can't stand them. There is almost a sense of pride that fills your head with competition making it hard for you to see eye to eye on certain subjects. Here is a list of a few times I have given my mom a hard time when I shouldn't have, and will never admit to admitting.
1. Not always answering the phone when someone calls. It used to irritate you when she would ignore phone calls or not reply to a text right away, but now you understand where she’s coming from. We’ve all become so accustomed to stopping what you’re doing to please someone else. Sit back down and enjoy your coffee with no interruptions.
2. Your taste in music is actually the same. Some might find it silly seeing a mom and a daughter dancing in the car together, but it’s okay to enjoy the same music. It’s not weird. I promise.
3. You look better without 10 pounds of makeup on. Yes, mascara can make a huge difference, but you’re beautiful the way you are. Plus, who are you trying to impress at Costco anyway??
4. The food she makes is actually very good. Most 20-somethings still aren't on board with the whole "eating healthy thing", but you’d kill to have another home-cooked meal instead of going to the caf.
5. You should’ve stopped being friends with so-and-so WAY before you actually did. Lesson learned: never ignore your mother’s instincts. She called it from the beginning.
6. Cleaning the house. You know you should’ve taken the trash out when you saw it was overflowing, but you chose not to for no reason. You never meant to make her mad.
7. Cutting/dyeing your hair was a huge mistake. It would be nice to believe you could make decisions on your own about your hair, but sometimes bringing mama along with you to the salon isn’t always a bad idea.
8. You are unbelievably grateful for everything she's done for you. She never puts herself first. Sometimes it's been taken for granted, but never unnoticed.
9. You love her more than anything. You might call yourself a daddy’s-girl, but you will never pass up an opportunity to embrace the love that only a mother could give.
