We all need a little brightness at this time of year as we transition from a long winter into spring. It's almost unanimous that we are wishing for summer! Since I have not posted any poetry in a while and it usually tends to be serious, I hope the following lifts your spirits.
against all odds
the tiny stub of green
emerges from a bulb buried
in the cold ground for months.
it refuses to yield to winter's tyranny
and when the time is right,
it grows bright and confident.
against all odds
God's power and love triumphed over death.
the Incarnate One could not stay
lifeless – He created life –
and up He sprung on the third day
to the horror of those arrayed
against Him; in resurrection power
we have hope now and forever.
against all odds
our circumstances really can change
when we pray; impossible problems
don't look so hopeless now,
in the light of what Jesus has done.
we just need faith to believe
what we see is not all that can be.
