Concerts are a magical experience. After at least an hour or so of waiting in line in the freezing and windy weather and then getting situated in the venue, the lights have finally dimmed signaling cheers from the entire audience. Usually by the second song, I can get a vibe of how the concert will go and whether or not I’ll be suffering from Post- Concert Depression the next day. About 99% of the time, it’s a yes.
Post -Concert Depression is the feeling of nostalgia you get after a concert. You find yourself watching your Snapchat story over and over again trying to relive the amazing experience (I actually purposely post more videos than necessarily to my story now knowing that I will be watching it later and regretting that I didn’t have more videos). You’re probably wondering why I don’t just take videos on my phone and keep them to myself instead of obnoxiously posting them to my story? Well for some reason I am more likely to watch those 15 second story videos than watching a three minute video. Plus on Snapchat you can save your entire story into one video so you basically relive an abridged version of the concert over and over again. The best is when other people you follow on Snapchat also went to the concert cause then you get to watch their stories and relive the concert from a different angle!!!
In addition to the obsessive Snapchat story watching, you also basically talk about all the feels and interesting people you encountered at the concert to anyone who asks/ will listen to you. I think after a concert, I give at least 5 people a detailed story about how amazing the concert was and how in love I am with the band.
Constantly playing your favorite songs that they performed is also common. I usually have their entire set list on loop for a week or so after. Sometimes the opening act is someone you have never heard of before and you find out you love their music so you end up stalking them on all social media. You also end up adding all their music to your Spotify playlists and start listening to that obsessively also.
Post-Concert Depression isn’t as sad as the name suggests. If you go to enough concerts you quickly learn that despite the sadness that follows an amazing concert, it only lasts a few weeks. Sure you’ll always look back on that night and feel a ton of nostalgia, but the sadness of the concert being over disappears. Also going to another concert helps. I normally don’t fully recover from an amazing concert until I go to another one.
