I'm Afraid Of Getting Tired Of My Major

What if I want to do more with my life?

As short as life is, we all just have a common goal of being happy and content. Obviously the idea of happiness means different things to each person, but this goal is the reason that so many of us continue to change our major, or decide to go back to school after we already started a career.

It's hard to make a decision on something that determines how we spend the rest of our lives.

College can be a very stressful time for people who don't know what they want to do, or for those people who want to do a little bit of everything. As a college student, you have to spend years training for a career that could potentially become boring right away. There is no way of knowing how happy you will be with your future career until you finally get there and live it.

I am one of the types of people who wants to try just about every career out there. Currently I'm majoring in education and don't get me wrong, I really am super excited about it. Unfortunately, there is always that fear that you might get burned out. You might love teaching for the first few years and then want to move forward after that. Maybe to become a principal or a counselor or something. Or, maybe you will want to switch over to a whole new career field completely. It is scary for college students because there is no way of knowing for sure.

The only answer that I have come up with so far for the people out there like me - who have chosen a major and worry that its not enough for yourself - is to enjoy what you have right now. If you are getting a quality education in a field you enjoy, just stick with it. There is no point in fixing something that isn't broken, so stick with your major as long as it still makes you happy. You can always further your education and continue to learn. You can always add to your resume. Remember not to challenge yourself too much.

Take up some hobbies. If you think you might be interested in another field, explore it, but don't completely change your life over it yet. No matter where you stand or how old you are, it's okay to take the time to find yourself. And if you are happy with where you are, keep doing what you're doing!

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
